Procedure of a load test
Effective load and performance testing is crucial to enable smooth operation of a website or application under high load. By simulating real user interactions, potential bottlenecks and performance problems in IT systems can be identified and resolved at an early stage. In this overview, we show you the triscon approach for executing load and performance test to ensure that your online presence or your applications work best at all times.
Design phase / Test preparation
- A joint kickoff with you serves to obtain all relevant information in order to optimally prepare and plan the test.
- After collecting your testing requirements, we move on to creating the technical scripts for load generation.
- Normally, we perform a calibration run as part of the preparatory work, in which the test design is validated by a short test run with little load.
Execution phase / Test execution
- The actual load and performance test is carried out in this phase. triscon recommends testing in a time window in which there is as little parallel activity as possible on your servers / applications / website.
- We also recommend performing another calibration run on the same day to check whether all testing scripts are still running.
Evaluation phase / Test evaluation
- Already during the test execution, we evaluate the first results in terms of performance (response times), errors that occurred and resource utilization.
- We test intensively until our testing expert can confirm that the test goals agreed upon in the kickoff have been achieved.
- We then generate and create a comprehensive and informative report on the load and performance test carried out.
Discussion phase / Results discussion
- We will discuss the final test results with you and support you in deriving the necessary actions to optimize the tested system.
- Together we plan further steps to improve performance. If desired, triscon will be happy to support you in implementing the planned improvement steps.
- After optimizing the tested system, we carry out further test runs to check the effectiveness of the optimization steps.
